MURPH Challenge 2015

We are hosting the MURPH Challenge in 2015 If you came last year you are already invited. There are no time caps. You get the same respect at 90 minutes as you do at 45 minutes. Your OFFICIAL shirt or proof of purchase gets you in. We are working on a new prize, since Paul drank the one MURPH ale we had after his win. People have already asked if they could join us. Yes. If there is no place for you to MURPH and honor Michael, we will make one. I may need some help to bring it all…

Social Media Image Sizing Guide [INFOGRAPHIC]

Maintaining a social media presence can be overwhelming, especially when every outlet has a different layout, a different audience and different image dimensions. To make every post as impactful as possible, it’s important that the adorable kitten you posted to Facebook doesn’t have his head cut off in the thumbnail or that the special offer you’re tweeting to customers doesn’t have the Special Offer text cropped out. Make the most of all your social media platforms by posting correctly sized images to your LinkedIn header, your Google + profile and your Pinterest feed. When customers land on your YouTube profile, make sure they see everything you…

Are the Yellow Pages Dead?

It is our favorite question to ask people trying to understand what we do here at Driftpoint Media. “When was the last time you opened the Yellow Pages?” In our experience most people touch their Yellow Pages once a year to recycle them when the new book arrives. Many people have abandoned their home phone and do not get any Yellow Pages. Every once in a while I find somebody who has looked at one, just to see if their own company was listed properly. Is there ANY value to being listed in the Yellow Pages? Sure.  It is a powerful…

Barbells for Boobs 2014 Rochester Sponsor

We are proud to announce that we are once again sponsoring the Barbells for Boobs Pink Bra Tour as it returns to Rochester.  Last year we helped the event come together and raise $46k in funding to help fund early detection mammogram services for breast cancer.   This year we are working with Crossfit Webster and Flower City Crossfit as the event return October 12th. Last year we dressed Stephen up in a pink tutu and took some rather iconic photos to help promote the event. You can donate directly through the Barbells for Boobs fundraising site, setup for Stephen, or…

Disconnect to Reconnect 2014

Embedded in our company culture is the concept of mandatory escapes from work. It has been a busy year at Driftpoint Media. When things are at the peak of getting busier it is a good time to pause, step back and come back at where things are going with a clear head.  At least it sounds a lot nicer to say it like that while sitting along side a lake instead of behind a computer screen. Driftpoint Media disconnected last week to spend some time in our favorite region of this country, the Adirondacks.  It was the perfect change to put some clarity on…

Murph Challenge 2014

We are proud and excited to be an Official Host for the MURPH Challenge for 2014. We have close ties to the Murphy family which makes this a special event for us and we continue to help the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation whenever we can. With friends and family traveling far from out of town to join us, we are running the MURPH Challenge from our home in Penfield on Sunday, followed by a BBQ gathering for everybody involved. We will be transforming the barn into a “box of MURPH” this week and prepping the site for new…

Twitter’s Profile Changes 2014

Here is another debrief as a few people ask when large changes get pushed around. Last week Twitter rolled out its new web profile design. According to it’s own blog new features are: Best Tweets: Tweets that have received more engagement will appear slightly larger, so your best content is easy to find. Pinned Tweet: Pin one of your Tweets to the top of your page, so it’s easy for your followers to see what you’re all about. Filtered Tweets: Now you can choose which timeline to view when checking out other profiles. Select from these options: Tweets, Tweets with…

Sponsoring Barbells for Boobs 2013

Driftpoint Media has become an official sponsor of the 2013 Barbells for Boobs campaign through our friends at Flower City Crossfit. On November 3rd, the Pink Bra Tour will make it’s final tour stop here in Rochester NY at Flower City Crossfit to help raise funds and awareness for early breast cancer detection. Because this gym is so passionate about this event and were able to participate so much last year, Reebok is sending the bus.  The Pink Bra Tour bus is stopping at Flower City Crossfit as one of 8 gyms across the country, finishing off it’s tour across…

Naming a Company Driftpoint

I get asked this question every once in a while. Why is Driftpoint Media called Driftpoint Media? Let’s just say, some ideas just pop into my head and this was not one of them. It took me a long time to find the perfect name for a company.  I wanted to feel strong about branding a company that was going to be representing myself. Knowing the recipe was going to be a combination of words, I started with the passions I have in life, outside of digital marketing.  Those passions would resemble a balance between auto racing and waterskiing.  Hundreds…
